A relaxing waterfall mural down the wall of an entire entryway of a home. Is it an image of the gorge in Washington/Oregon, or a tropical scene? You decide!

This mural was painted on a wall in a snoezelen sensory therapy room inside a memory care facility in Walla Walla, Washington. The theory is that when residents get agitated, they can go into this room that has all kinds of sensory stimulation, and be distracted, forgetting what they were agitated about. This bright mural adds visual stimulation.

Both the wheat field mural and the garden mural were painted directly over two exit doors and all their hardware. These doors are the exit doors in a memory care facility in Walla Walla, Washington. The murals help prevent the frustrating confusion of residents trying to go through the doors. They also help to calm residents, and hopefully trigger nice memories.

This 8'x10' "Tree of Life" is in a guest bedroom. The "Tree of Life" is ubiquitous and meaningful to cultures and religions all over the world.
My favorite part of this mural is the fact that it's going to be a 3-d/mixed media mural. In between the branches and flowers of this tree will be framed old black and white family photos! The first picture in this gallery is one that I photoshopped. I can't wait to see this mural when it's actually a completed family photo wall!
After a sketch is made, I bring it into a digital program that lets me draw over a picture of your wall. This way, you have a better idea of what your final mural will look like!

These animal paintings were scattered throughout the halls of a memory care facility in Walla Walla, Washington. The idea is to both calm and delight residents, while hopefully also triggering some nice memories.

This project was an original from the very beginning! The couple who commissioned this piece for their diningroom, had just travelled to Greece recently, to explore the wife's Greek heritage.
The husband of this dynamic duo, came up with the fabulous idea to make it look like there was 4 big windows, the middle two open to the stunningly blue mediterranean waters. The two outside windows would be actual re-purposed windows, bolted to the wall over my painting, while the middle two would be painted. It turned out really beautiful, to have the painting under the glass!
After!

This mural was designed for a lovely couple who had just been married. The couple went to Venice on their European honeymoon, and commissioned me to paint them a grand reminder to this special time and place in their lives.
After flipping through their honeymoon photo album, I came up with a sketch including signature Venetian architecture, a gondola, and a tranquil dusk ambiance. I was glad to give this special couple a daily reminder of their honeymoon and their love for each other!

In the work I do for myself, I enjoy using bright colors in unique combinations. The couple who commissioned this piece in their bedroom, shared my love of color. I was given a lot of artistic freedom by my clients on this one, told only to paint hibiscus flowers, and to not be afraid of using bright colors.
I had so much fun painting this, I wanted to continue these humongous flowers all over the rest of the room! The grand scale of these flowers is really what makes this mural stand out.

Being from the Pacific Northwest and growing up enjoying it's natural beauty, I had a particular interest in this project! A Pediatric Dentist came to me asking for a full wall (well, 2 walls, actually) mural for the children's play area of the waiting room in his office.
My Dentist client knew he wanted a waterfall that looked like it was in Oregon. The 10ft. tall walls made the waterfall that much more grand. The water looked like it was tumbling down from above and pooling right at your feet! I think the kiddos will enjoy it. I even hid a little deer in there, peeking out from behind the trees!

This collection of photos shows the various mural and painting projects I did during my time living in rural Madagascar. I was a Peace Corps Volunteer, and lived in 2 different villages for a total of 2 years. Throughout my time there, I worked on various projects for friends and neighbors.
This mural was painted in a village clinic. The Madagascar flag's colors happens to be a great way to teach about nutrition - White for starches, red for protein, and green for fruits and vegetables. This mural is on the inside of the room where women give birth.
This is a painting of a ring-tailed lemur, endemic to Madagascar.

This mural was designed for a successful masseuse with an already gorgeous home studio. The only element that didn't "flow", was the way her clients entered and exited her studio - through her less-than-fabulous carport. She hired me to help enhance this space for the total transformative relaxation experience she wanted for her clients.
Inspired by the asian art that already gave her studio a cohesive theme, I was able to carry the tranquil feeling outside the studio to her carport entryway. Working from my client's vision, I sketched out three ideas. After mixing and matching different elements from the sketches, we were left with a design she felt was perfect for her space.

This project was commissioned by the Principal of Holt Elementary School in Eugene, OR. His vision was to have me create a sort of scavenger hunt for the K-5 students within their own school. I would paint 25 different species, all scientifically as accurate as possible, all around the school. To this day, kids are still enjoying finding the animals that live in their hallways!

The Hoya plant, a succulent creeper vine with fragrant, delicate flowers, has graced this sitting room for a long time. My job was to celebrate the plant by continuing its vines all along the big bay windows in the room.
I really loved the final look of this, especially in the areas where the real vine was growing right over my painted vines! Another creative take on a mural with 3D elements. My mural clients are always amazing me with their great ideas, and I'm always happy to help bring them to life!

This mural project in North Philadelphia covered all 4 sides of a neighborhood pool! The geometric shapes and glass mosaic elements set a colorful backdrop for a poem's text to wrap around the building.
In Summer 2012, I Was hired out of a pool of almost 200 applicants to be one of 14 interns to work with the Mural Arts Program in Philadelphia. As an intern to Muralist Delia King, I helped assign over 10 convicts on work-release to daily tasks to fabricate "The Garden" Mural project.

This mural is painted on a 2.5' x 40' piece of canvas. The client wanted something he could hang around his second story wrap around porch, on special occasions. He wanted hang the banner at celebratory moments, or to welcome house guests to his home.
This mural was fun and exciting to design, since I am drawn to organic shapes, bright colors and bold juxstaposition of imagery, as in this design. The client loves nasturtium and zinnia flowers, and has a pond in his backyard, so I incorporated all of those elements. Then, I added a hummingbird and butterfly, just for fun. Can you think of a more appropriate mural for Spring time? I can't!

This 3-D mural was designed for a client with a beach house in Yachats, OR. The mural is on the back porch/mud room of this vacation home.
This mural was painted as usual, with acrylic paint. Then, I adhered real agates, beach glass, shells and more to the sand part of the beach, to make give this mural a unique take on the typical beach scene. Plus, a friendly pelican!

This 2-story tall commission was for a couple that needed something bright, yet calming and "zen" to greet them and their house guests on their way into the newly renovated home. The irises and bamboo are both plants that represented the essence of what these homeowners were looking to feel in their home - peace and quiet beauty.
One unique feature of this mural project, was the special request by my clients to immortalize their late cats in their bamboo garden scene. These loved feline companions will be forever watching and happy in their beautiful bamboo forest. If given reference photos by a client, I am happy to do this on any mural project!
