The couple who commissioned this mural at first just wanted one room of their baby son's nursery to be painted. They ended up liking the forest wall so much, that they asked me to paint the other three walls as well! Also, this couple wants to someday use this mural during their bedtime stories. They said they'll make up stories around the animals, people and scenery, and then when he's old enough, they'll have him write up his own. I love that idea!!

This mural was made for a very musically talented couple's nursery. Their baby boy will grow up with these new animal friends beside him! The couple I painted this for chose all the animals, and which instruments they would be playing in this animal band. How fun is that?!

This mural came to be when a 5 year old girl became scared of the smoke detector on her ceiling, and was unable to sleep without bad dreams, or without sleeping in her parent's room. I was called to come make it less scary.

If there is one type of commissioned residential mural I enjoy most, it is murals for children's rooms! The parents who commissioned this project were making a gift of it to their pre-teen daughter. With my help, her parents were able to transform their daughter's room into her own version of tropical paradise!
This project involved paintings on three walls: one wall of a tropical beach scene, one wall with a tiki motif, one with an ancient temple in the rainforest and another tiki. I love the playfulness of the tikis, and the way that the tropical waters can carry you away somewhere warm and sunny, even in the grayest of Oregon Winters!

When a co-worker of my mother's was pregnant, she commissioned this project for her child's nursery room. This woman had once taught in South Africa for a year, and fell in love with the landscape there.
Now that the baby is born, I hear that the little girl loves to look up at the monkey, and stroke the elephants by the watering hole. I wish I had this mural to look at as a little kid!
